The Triathlon Life

Katrina Lems is a third year engineering student at Colorado State University (CSU) and is the Vice President of CSU's Triathlon Club. She was last year's leading scorer with multiple podium finishes. The first sprint triathlon (which is a 750 m swim followed by a 20 km bike and finishes with a 5 km run) of the season was the 2018 women's draft legal Oktoberfest Triathlon. This race is unique because it is a rare opportunity for club and NCAA athletes to race against one another, and it was the first time Lems raced with NCAA athletes.

The weekend after the Oktoberfest Triathlon the CSU Triathlon Club had a camping retreat in Red Feather, Colo. where the seriousness of racing dissipated. At the retreat the focus was centered around team bonding. All photos are by Eric Forbes and all the quotes are from Lems. The photos for the Oktoberfest Triathlon were taken on Sept. 23, 2018, and the photos of the retreat were taken between Sept. 28 and Sept. 30, 2018.
